1. Protein

Protein is the building block of muscle tissue and is necessary for proper growth and repair of cells. Proteins are composed of smaller units called amino acids. There are 20 different types of amino acids, each with their own unique function in the body. One of the most important amino acids is leucine, which helps build lean muscle mass. Leucine is also known to help reduce fat storage and increase metabolic rate.

 2. Fats

Fats are a type of lipid that is stored in the body and provide energy. Fats are also used to produce hormones and regulate blood clotting. Fatty acids are the basic unit of fats. Essential fatty acids are those that cannot be produced by the human body and must therefore be obtained from food. Omega-3 fatty acids are considered essential because they are not produced by the body. These fatty acids are critical for brain and eye development, immune system function, and cardiovascular health.

 3. Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates are the primary fuel source for the body and are broken down into glucose. Glucose is then converted into ATP (adenosine triphosphate), the chemical responsible for cellular energy production. Carbohydrates are also used to make glycogen, which stores glucose in the liver. Glycogen is then released into the bloodstream when we need extra energy.

 4. Water

Water is a major component of the human body and is necessary for many bodily processes. Most people drink at least 2 liters of water per day. Drinking enough water keeps the body properly hydrated, which prevents dehydration. Dehydration causes fatigue and headaches.

 5. Fiber

Fiber is a carbohydrate that is indigestible by humans, but is necessary for good digestive health. Fiber aids digestion by absorbing water and slowing the passage of food through the gastrointestinal tract. Fiber also adds bulk to stool, helping prevent constipation.

 6. Minerals

Minerals are elements that are present in small amounts in the environment and are essential for the human body. Minerals play various roles in the body including regulating the pH balance of the blood, forming bones and teeth, maintaining nerve impulses, and producing enzymes. Minerals are often referred to as trace elements because they are present in low concentrations in the body.

 7. Vitamins

Vitamins are organic compounds that the body requires to perform specific tasks. Without vitamins, the body would not be able to carry out certain biochemical reactions. Vitamins are classified according to their role in the body. Biotin, vitamin C, niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, folic acid, pantothenic acid, and vitamin A are examples of vitamins.
