Once they begin to grow, keep them watered regularly.

 When the holy basil begins to flower, you can cut off the flowers and save them for later. You can dry the flowers and store them in a jar. You can also make tea from the dried flowers. To make holy basil tea, add 1 teaspoon of dried holy basil flowers per cup of boiling water. Let steep for 5 minutes, strain, and drink.

 If you want to grow holy basil in your yard, you can either buy potting mix or you can prepare your own using composted manure and peat moss. Add 2 cups of composted manure to each container. Fill the containers halfway with peat moss. Place the holy basil seeds in the middle of the container and cover them with more peat moss. Water the plants well and let them sit for several days. Remove the top layer of peat moss after a few days and replace it with fresh peat moss. Keep watering the plants regularly and watch for any pest problems.

 Once the plants are established, you can remove the outer leaves and enjoy the rest of the plant. You can eat the leaves raw or cook them. You can also make holy basil oil by placing the leaves in a blender and blending them together. Strain the mixture and bottle it.
